m68k-wrs-vxworks cross compiler on solaris 8 host

I am trying to build a cross-compiler on a Sun Solaris 8 host and target
m68k-wrs-vxworks.
I have downloaded, configured and installed binutils-2.12.  I am trying to
build using gcc-3.0.4.
I have read the FAQ but can not get the gcc build to complete successfully.
 
Has anybody been successful using the combinations listed above?  Please
share if you were 
successful.
