Crosscompiler for i686-pc-linux from cygwin

Hello David,
Here's basically what I did...
(I been thinking it, can it be caused by the version of the GCC sources I'm
using? It's 3.0.3 but I could do with a lower version)
$ export TARGET=i686-pc-linux
$ export PREFIX=/cross/${TARGET}
$ export PATH=$PATH:${PREFIX}/bin
then, i made a directory, unpacked the source .tar.gz's of Binutils 2.11.2
and gcc 3.0.3 to that dir and did...
$ mkdir build-binutils && cd build-binutils
$ ../binutils-2.11.2/configure --target=${TARGET} \
--prefix=${PREFIX} 2>&1 | tee configure.log
$ make all install 2>&1 | tee make.log
$ cd ..
$ mkdir build-gcc && cd build-gcc
$ ../gcc-3.0.3/configure --target=${TARGET} \
--prefix=${PREFIX} --without-headers --with-newlib \
2>&1 | tee configure.log
$ make all-gcc install-gcc 2>&1 | tee make.log
And it compiled for quite a while (the make.log for gcc was about 160KB),
then i got that error.
I have cygwin version 1.3.9, binutils 2.11.2 and gcc version is 3.0.3 (I had
to do a format of my windows partition recently and i downloaded newest
non-snapshot versions). Can it be due to 'too recent sources' or is that
dumb to say? Or have I done something wrong while installing cygwin (eg.
forgot a few modules)? Hope you can help me out here.
sincerely, Wouter
