Hi,
I've had this problem too by building cross gcc for linux-alpha on a i586.
During searching for a solution i found a posting from Mr. Jaeger, a
developer working for SuSE in Germany. I asked him if he succeded.
The facts out of his answer are:
The cross-compiling support for 64Bit on 32Bit system is broken since a
longer time. This should be fixed with gcc 3.1.0 which should be available in
April 2002.
The planed timeline are available on http://gcc.gnu.org
I tried the 2002-01-28 snapshoot from ftp://gcc.gnu.org.
Error number #2 are fixed, but there a later further problems like "could not
length of short"
The actual snapshot are on ftp://gcc.gnu.org/pub/gcc/snapshots/2002-02-04
On this weekend i will this snapshot.
regards from lower-bavaria the south-east of Germany
