mips64vr4100 target

Hello,

I'm developing for an embedded system that has a VR4120A CPU (using
the mips3 and mips16 instruction sets). I noticed that there has been
some discussion about the mips64vr4100 target of GCC on this list, but
I could not find the version of GCC mentioned (2.9-990319). I tried
versions 2.95.3, 3.0.1 and the recent snapshot 20010917.

So there seems to have been support for this target in GCC at some
point, but not now. How could I go about resurrecting this support?
