I don't know the history behind this, but in the gcc-3.x versions
the 'powerpc-*-elf' is now separated from both 'powerpc-*-sysv*'
and 'powerpc-*-eabi', the only difference between the '-elf' and
'-eabi' being that the 'rs6000/eabi.h' will be included after the
'-elf' target config headers... Browsing the 'gcc/config.gcc'
shows the templates for the targets...
