cross compiler for a DSP

I have to port the gcc (C language only) for a DSP, the only things I
have are
- assembler (DOS)
- linker (DOS)

If there is any library available is not clear at the moment.

I have never done such a crazy thing before.

My questions are
- how much time do I have to calculate for this project
- is it possible to port a subsystem of the C language
- have someone experience in porting for a DSP
