Ideally you want to build glibc using -ffunction-sections, the same
way that libgcc works. Dunno if just saying CFLAGS=-ffunction-sections
on the glibc make command line would do the job or not, but you could
do worse than give it a go. I am unfamiliar with the glibc build
process and can't even begin to guess whether it will work or not, but as
long as it doesn't do anything too tricky it should be ok.
