PowerPC SDA

Hi,

   I'm trying to get GCC 2.95.2 on the PowerPC (MPC8xx) to use the small
data
area (SDA). It works great with the "-meabi" and "-msdata=eabi" options,
except
when the data has a section attribute.

  For example, the following code is in the SDA and works fine:

int test;

  The following code is still accessed like it is in the SDA, so the linker
complains about it:

int test __attribute__ ((section ("hardware_section")));

  The linker error is:
/usr/local/bin/powerpc-eabi-ld: local/bit.o: The target (test) of a
R_PPC_EMB_SDA21
relocation is in the wrong section (hardware_section)

  Is there any attribute that tells the compiler _not_ to access a variable
as a SDA variable? or to force a certain type of addressing?

Thanks,
Will Lentz
