powerpc ld bug

I thought others might find this information useful...

The linker in binutils-2.9.1 appears to have a rather
serious bug, when used in a powerpc-eabi cross compiler.
It puts multiple variables belonging to the sbss section
at the same address.  I downloaded binutils-2.9.1.0.23, which
is the latest binutils from RedHat and rebuild the tools.
Linking the same code with binutils-2.9.1.0.23 produces the
correct output.  I hope this bug was intentionally (rather
than accidentally) fixed.
