ELF Support in Binutils for SCO3.2v5.0.5

Hi !
I am using  Binutils-2.7  for  gcc-2.7.2.1 
compilation on i386-sco3.2v5.0.5
The  ld supports only  the coff output  
format  in the  in the emulparams  dir.  of  
ld.
I wanted  the ld  to generate  
"elf-output"  format.I even  chose the generalised elf  
format  option of  ld  but that didnt  help .
Could anyone help  me out in getting some patch so that I 
can get the "elf output format"  in the ld.
 
I actually  wanted to make it  run with 
gdb-4.17.
Any  suggestion would be more than 
appreciated.
