Help with building cross egcs 1.1.1

Hi, I'm new to the list so I apologize if I am asking questions that have
already been answered on this list.  I am trying to build a egcs-1.1.1
cross compiler hosted on sparc Solaris 2.5.1 targeting m68k-coff.
I have read the  cross compiler FAQ on the Cygnus website, downloaded the
cross compiler patch (for gcc 2.8.x) that is on the site.

Unfortunately the patch does not seem to be at all applicable as it is to
the egcs-1.1.1 distribution.  Most of the patch is rejected, and due to
the flu I have not been able to look at the patch and see if I can make
the changes manually.

First I was wondering if anyone out there has successfully built an
egcs-1.1.1 cross compiler, and whether they would be willing to provide me
with the proper procedure.
My build fails at this point,

which I do recall being mentioned in the FAQ and that the patch against
gcc 2.8x.x is supposed to take care of.

I would be grateful for any tips or advice.
