m68k cross compiler problems

Ok thanks for all the help so far.  

I am running RedHat 4.1 linux.
I am using binutils-2.8.1.
I am using gcc-

I can build and install binutils with no problem.

I can't seem to build gcc-

I believe I am following the instructions exactly.  

Thanks for any help.

P.S. Here is my latest results:
