and I replied to your earlier message concerning this matter, cf.

soliciting feedback from other members of the binutils community.  No one 
seemed to share your concerns, the change has been approved and I fail to 
see why the options would be confusing.  It's up to the user to know their 
tools and these options have been fully documented.
