ar - slower .a creation time time after switch from 2.32 to 2.35

Hi all!

After updating the toolchain (for gcc 9.2.1->9.3.1), overall build
time has increased twofold. It was found out that .a creation now
takes way more time than before. The ar versions are 2.32 (old,
"faster" one) and 2.35 (new, "slower" one).
The target is x86_64, nothing fancy.

Is this a known issue, perhaps? Haven't found anything relevant unfortunately (

If no, how do I debug this? No idea where to start...
