Gold patch & bug backlog

Sorry, guys, I've been absent for a while lately. I've been dealing
with a family medical problem that's requiring pretty much my full
time attention. I'll be back and will try to catch up with patch
reviews and fixing bugs.

In the meantime, I won't mind terribly if you expand the notion of
"trivial and obvious" slightly if you have a patch that needs to get
in.

I apologize for my absence.
