 Great, I'm glad that we agree.  Applied now, thank you for your review.

 I have now finally posted PR ld/21375 series (archived starting from 
here: <https://sourceware.org/ml/binutils/2018-07/msg00268.html>) and 
while I can self-approve those patches, I will appreciate your feedback 
if you would like to comment on them.  Otherwise I will commit these 
changes after 24 hours.
