Error when building: --program-transform-name=s&^&arm-linux-gnueabi-&

I have tried unset LD_LIBRARY_PATH, add binutils $builddir to the
LD_LIBRARY_PATH, avoid use of fakeroot.. all lead to same error (at
the moment only on x86_64)
