SVN for src, status?

The complete history of the src repository converted to git is 618MB
(without a local checkout).  In CVS, that was 2.7GB (rsync'ed repo).

FWIW, with git, you can clone the repo without history (or with
limited history) if you really want to.  Others can not pull from
you, and of course you cannot see the history you don't have, but
that's about it -- everything else still works.
