--gc-sections and --emit-relocs

Hi,

It seems --gc-sections is disabled when --emit-relocs is set.  Although this is
not specified in the documentation, a warning is emitted and the sources
are clear about this point.

Is there any foundamental reasons for this ?
Does supporting --gc-sections when --emit-relocs require a lot of work ?

I'd like to be able to reduce the size of static relocatable modules (not .so!)
