Daniel is right.  Applying your patch to the 2.15 branch is pointless - 
no more releases are going to be made from that branch, so your patch 
will not appear in any downloadable tarball.  The only way a user could 
get hold of it would be by checking out the branch sources from the CVS 
repository, and if they are doing that then they have the ability to 
download the mainline sources, or the 2.16 branch, both of which are 
more up-to-date.
