OK, that's what I've recommended the Inkscape developers do for now,

Ian, thanks also, I'll have a play with those options. Even if they
don't do anything for binary portability maybe we can shave off another
few meg from the Inkscape static RPMs and autopackages. Given that they
used over 600gig of bandwidth for the 0.42 release every little helps :)
