Eliminating R_PPC_REL32 relocations

I would like to remove/eliminate R_PPC_REL32 relocations when compiling 
shared/dynamic libraries for the PowerPC405.  I currently use the -fPIC 
option when compiling.  Is this possible? If so, how?
