K&R C requirement for binutils now dropped

Hi Guys,

Now that the 2.14 binutils release is out we are ready to drop the
requirement that all binutils code should be in the K&R dialect of
  C. So from now on, patches that conform to ISO C89 will be
accepted for the mainline sources. The current branches will remain
  K&R.

Patches that upgrade the current K&R sources to ISO C89 will also be
considered, and accepted if they conform to the normal patch
submission requirements. (ie that they work, they do not introduce
  non-FSF copyrighted or patented code).

Cheers
        Nick
