No, just that everyone is busy.  If you'd like to pursue using
bfd_fdopenr, you might try setting bfd->direction = write_direction
after the bfd_fdopenr and see if that works.

Note that it's generally not necessary to cc anyone responding with
a review of your patch, particularly if they set Mail-followup-to
headers excluding themselves..
