Compile error Solaris

Hello,

I am having troubles building binutils on Sun Sparc Solaris 2.8.  I've
configured with:

./configure --prefix=/home/cs/csugrads/dvanhorn/local

But make errors out with this:

gcc -c -g -O2 -I. -I./../include -DHAVE_SYSCONF ./dummy.c 2>/dev/null
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `dummy.o'
Current working directory
/home/cs/csugrads/dvanhorn/local/binutils-2.9.1/libiberty
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `all-libiberty'


Any ideas?  In general, is there a way to get more information?
