Did you try the ld testsuite w/ this patch, to see if it causes the
ld-misc-2 test to be fixed as well?

These could possibly be testcase problems, but they're new and need
careful investigation.

I was going to do said investigation, but first got blocked on
branches to globals in general not working, and didn't have much time
to look into it further...
