I'm getting the warning

bfd.h:3672: warning: declaration of `index' shadows global declaration

for this line in bfd.h

bfd_alt_mach_code PARAMS ((bfd *abfd, int index));

in a particular app of ours that uses bfd, compiled with -Wshadow.
[include string.h before bfd.h]

You can see it for yourself with

cd obj/binutils
rm addr2line.o
make addr2line.o CFLAGS=-Wshadow

Howzabout renaming `index' to something else?
