Yeah.  The linker is getting the relocation processing hopelessly wrong with 
--oformat=ihex.  (I suspect pretty much any oformat other than ELF is likely 
to be broken, actually.)

I don't know how feasible it is to make these cases work; maybe someone else 
can answer.
