ARM + Thumb code

Hi, I'm working with GNU tool chain (2.95.2/2.10.1 ) configured for
arm-elf target but I need to use olso interworking capabilities of
ARM7TDMI. To generate Thumb objects I need to have two compilers
configurations, one for Thumb code and one for ARM-code.
My questions are:
-does ld, configured for arm-elf targets links together Thumb and
Arm-code?
-is as (arm-elf) capable to generate olso Thumb code? if yes how?
- what are the utilities who need to be configured for thumb-elf ?
