mips gas

i'm trying to use -mips4 but i want only 32 bit 
instructions emitted.
 
the compiler seems happy to do this if i specify 
-mgp32 , -mfp32 and
such.
 
however, when an instruction "move $SP,$FP" is 
assembled, it creates
daddu instruction.
 
any ideas of how to make gas aware of 
this?
