When an XML document is parsed, CR+LF pairs are normalized to LF, so you don't
need to do this. You shouldn't want the character reference "&#10;" anyway, as
it is semantically equivalent to a raw LF, and takes 3 or 8 bytes more than a
raw LF, depending on encoding.

What are you really trying to accomplish?
