You mean you are trying to use your stylesheet to output HTML that
will render as a checkbox. There's no such thing as a "checkbox in
a stylesheet".

In HTML, the 'checked' attribute is in minimized form. XML doesn't use
minimized attributes. However, the HTML output method will minimize attributes
for you. On the input side you just need to create the attribute in
non-minimized form:
<input name="marks" checked="checked" type="checkbox" onClick= ... />
