Of course.

<xsl:apply-templates select="anynode">
   <xsl:with-param name="node" select="node"/>
</xsl:apply-templates>

<xsl:template match="anynode">
   <xsl:param name="node" select="/.."/>
   <xsl:value-of select="$node/child/@value"/>
</xsl:template>

Works also with <xsl:call-template/>.
