well it can't be a bug in MSXML as by definition _any_ process on
<XML ID="XMLData"> is by definition just whatever Microsoft implements.
Your file is not XML (as it is an error to have any element name begining with
the letters X M L (or x m l)).

It may be that the non-XML <XML> tag only works as you expect
(switching between HTML and XML DOM's) if inside the HTML
browser. (Can't tell from this unix box:-)
