[Bug server/14930] New: non-avahi stap-serverd version multiplexing

http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=14930

             Bug #: 14930
           Summary: non-avahi stap-serverd version multiplexing
           Product: systemtap
           Version: unspecified
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: server
        AssignedTo: systemtap@sourceware.org
        ReportedBy: fche@redhat.com
    Classification: Unclassified

In environments where avahi is not available, it would be handy to let stap
instances use central stap-serverd's, without all the pain of manual selection
of servers, different ip#/port# assignments etc.

Let's consider building a stap-serverd protocol change, wherein the server
supports <N> available kernel-versions, and chooses the right one for the
client based upon the request contents. Or perhaps have a multiplexing
meta-server.
