Sometimes you have mismatched versions of the kernel, kernel-devel and/or
kernel-debuginfo packages installed. It would be nice if like with missing
debuginfo packages stap would give a hint which package would provide any
missing files.
e.g. Instead of the following error message:
Checking /lib/modules/2.6.31.5-127.fc12.x86_64/build/.config failed : no such
file or directory
Ensure kernel development headers & makefiles are installed
Hmmm, I have kernel-devel installed, what is up with that?
rpm -q kernel kernel-devel kernel-debuginfo :
kernel-2.6.31.5-127.fc12.x86_64
kernel-debuginfo-2.6.31.5-127.fc12.x86_64
kernel-devel-2.6.32.11-99.fc12.x86_64
gah not the same version for kernel-devel did not see that before :/
stap instead said (like when stap detect missing debuginfo packages):
Missing kernel-devel package, use: yum install kernel-devel-2.6.32.11-99.fc12.x86_64
