Thank you for offering to help! There's a contribution checklist[1] you can look at, which should be a good guide to get started with posting patches for changes. The biggest TODO would probably be to get a copyright assignment signed with the Free Software Foundation to assign copyright of your work to them, although I am not sure if it is required for documentation changes; I suspect it is. I had written up a call for contributors last year[2], which has information to get you started on the technical front.
