sorry for being nitpicky , but in the second example in
http://sources.redhat.com/gsl/ref/gsl-ref_18.html#SEC303
the variables i,x,.. are not defined at the beginning of a scope, I think
it is C99 compliant , but most other examples are c89 compliant.
