Not really. Different linux distributions have different
mechanisms (package managers) for dealing with this sort of
thing. If your distro uses rpm, consult the rpm documentation
(e.g. "man rpm").
Please note, this sort of general linux question is off-topic
for this list, which is specifically concerned with the glibc C
library.
