Everything in your log suggests that one of the above - all of GDB,
UML, and RHL are very old - is broken. You should never see these
messages:
> Program received signal SIGTRAP, Trace/breakpoint trap.
> Warning:
> Cannot insert breakpoint 0.
> Error accessing memory address 0x1: Input/output error.
I would guess that UML was to blame.
