0.38 runs fine, but 0.40 just dies without doing anything - just some
echoes on the screen. I nailed it down to the getandpatch.sh script of
0.40 - if i copy this file from 0.38 into the 0.40 distribution it works
out fine again. So perhaps a bug was introduced here - i am sure you
know better were to start searching :-)
