Please RTFM first! Is the opcode valid for m68040? If so, there is
a bug in the assembler ! If it is not valid, your new gcc-4.x produces
bad code for m68040 !

Maybe yo should try another GCC or another binutils !

I just built binutils-2.15 and gcc-4.0.2 and there are no errors. This indicates that GCC is producing "good" code which assembles. My guess is that something has changed in binutils that has affected the assembler.
