Re: Error: cannot represent SWI relocation in this object file format

I'm trying to build a toolchain for arm-linux target with binutils-2.15, gcc-3.4.2 and glibc-2.3.3 and kernel headers linux-2.6.9

While building the glibc-2.3.3 i get the following error.

../sysdeps/unix/syscall.S: Assembler messages:
../sysdeps/unix/syscall.S:28: Error: cannot represent SWI relocation in this object file format

A little google searching for that error message finds one tip: http://moss.csc.ncsu.edu/~mueller/rt/rt02/g1/cross_installlog.txt

But perhaps you should consider using crosstool to build the
toolchain, if you're not already?
  http://kegel.com/crosstool/crosstool-0.29/buildlogs/
shows that it can build the combination
  arm gcc-3.4.2 glibc-2.3.3 binutils-2.15 linux-2.6.8
successfully, and that's nearly exactly what you wanted.
See http://kegel.com/crosstool/
