D'oh!  Yes, the BDI2000 does need TFTP.  Forgot that.

RedHat and Debian (the two distos I use) have TFTP server installation 
packages.

# up2date tftp-server

or,

# apt-get install tftp-server

Is the LH79520 and ARM9?  If so (I can't recall, and I'm too lazy to go 
look it up), I can report that the BDI works fine with it.
