Using non-cgen generated libopcodes

I'd like a simulator port I'm doing to use an existing disassembler from
libopcodes. I see that I can set a callback to my own funtion in sim_open
using the CPU_DISASSEMBLER() macro, but generated code elsewhere wants
things from -opc.h and -desc.h.
Any ideas? Thanks,
