I'm a user rather than a developer but the code seems as readily 
available in the fd.o cvs as anywhere else.

The obvious step is to move the project to autotools to take advantage 
of the X11R7 efforts, hopefully at that point it will be easy for new 
developers to work with. This would largely be replicating what has 
already being done by the xorg team for other ddx's.
