I'm a user rather than a developer but the code seems as readily available in the fd.o cvs as anywhere else.

The obvious step is to move the project to autotools to take advantage of the X11R7 efforts, hopefully at that point it will be easy for new developers to work with. This would largely be replicating what has already being done by the xorg team for other ddx's.

I think the limiting factor is that somebody will actually take it under their wing. Moving the CVS from freedesktop.org doesn't sound like a good idea...

Colin Harisson does some good work, but I don't think he has published
anything yet. Have you checked freedesktop.org if any of his patches has
been committed?

I'm running some of his changes locally and I believe they fixed the
crash I reported when running Eclipse 3.1 over ssh -Y... :-)
