Bug ID: 19873
Summary: staprun -o /NO/SUCH/FILE -c CMD imperfect cleanup
Product: systemtap
Version: unspecified
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: runtime
Assignee: systemtap at sourceware dot org
Reporter: fche at redhat dot com
Target Milestone: ---
For test cases such as systemtap.examples/*/switchfiles*, the test case can
hang if the source tree is unwriteable. The reason is that the -o OUTFILE
parameter refers to a file that can't be opened; thus a reader_thread in stapio
fails; at the same time, the CMD was being gradually executed in a child
process. The child process didn't close all of its fds, so the parent
stapio/staprun-d couldn't clean up the stap module. Plus the child process
could hang indefinitely if the parent didn't send it the SIGUSR1 to synchronize
STP_START target_pid passing. Tangly wangly.
