I personally would like to see autoconf bumped, because the next
version has a couple of bugfixes that we really need, esp dealing with
proper quoting (the notorious "environment variable has changed
between runs" bug).

Hence the previous push to get everything up to ac-2.59.

But, that's a different issue.  One thing at a time.
