There was consensus to remove it, and there still is.  At least 11
active or recently active developers (based on a quick count) have
stated that they want the thing removed.  Some have argued strongly.
How is that not consensus to remove it?

And that absolutely affects your proposal to revert.  Carlos is right
that you ignored the consensus position.

Personally, I wouldn't have thought that you would actually ignore the
consensus and revert the removal.
