The use of msub and m0sub was introduced in 4b69abad and appears to have
had no purpose then. It was too long ago for me to recall or speculate
usefully on what I might have had in mind when writing them there, but they
never had any actual use. This was years before multiarch was introduced,
so your explanation of the history is completely implausible. I've
committed a change removing those unset variables so that doesn't muddy the
water.
Your "Ignoring white spaces, my patch" doesn't match what the original
patch actually did. The version without the whitespace noise is patently
useless.
Looking at how multiarch is handled in the sysdeps selection, I see now
that it was done entirely wrong in the first place. I've redone that on
the roland/configure-multiarch branch.
